Where did I Begin?
About Me
I was asked these questions ... how hold are you? When did you first start breeding? Was it always with Pitbulls? Why is Pitbull’s your favorite?
Born 1947 and grew up in a household and era that dogs were part of every family lifestyle. I took to dogs like a duck to water, had my own favorites, loved the intensity of Terrier dogs. With no TV, Mobile phone or Internet we lived closer to nature – fishing, beekeeping, hunting, exploring the mountains and rivers and dogs (then Fox Terriers) always part of all our experiences. Had Airedale terries (stunning dogs), had Boer bull dogs and progressed to English Bull Terriers. Dogs became what I did. I registered English Bull Terriers with KUSA, as a breeder, and started a kennel.
My journey

AMERICAN PITBULL TERRIERS

Working long hours daily at the time and away from home, it was also for home and family security. Then an incident happened as one of my Bull Terriers attack my father and that ended my life as a dog breeder, suffice to say with English Bull terriers.
My son “PJ” befriended APBT doggers in East London (better known today as Budgie that later named and registered APBT’s as “Active Kennels”), and Anton from Cape Fear kennels (and their associates). I was introduced to these dogs and for me it was love at first site. I did my research about them – visited other APBT owners. 1985 – when “PJ” brought a APBT puppy home, the writing was on the wall. I still had the kennels and APBT fever got hold of me – the virus with no antidote – you will understand.
As the wheel turned, I acquainted myself with real passionate APBT doggers > Oom Charly from Liquorice Kid, Okie from Law kennels – Brainy Smurf- Chris Bekker (became my mentor and family friend), Rebel from Morning star – Kassie from River Kennels – Christan from Ruggedxris in Mozambique, Chris Gough from One Love, Jaymor from Black Sunday, Morkel Boshoff in Oudtshoorn, Bokke from Graveyard kennels and Chevandre` from Conveyer-belt. Then many more that made an impact on me, my dogs and Manjaro kennels.
Then, as we all experience fly by nights, swindlers, parasites and time wasters from all walks of life. I can elaborate on this but have to write a book to explain why APBT dogs is my favorite – it’s more than that, much more. Edward Hoagland – quote explain in perfectly- “In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn’t merely try to train the dog to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of also becoming partly dog.”
